Lithuania’s Guinness World Record of 507 electric cars in one place will be sought

As more and more electric cars appear on the roads of Lithuania, the company “Ěkrautas” came up with the idea to contribute to the celebration of World Electric Car Day to conquer the Lithuanian record: collecting the largest number of electric cars in one place. World Electric Car Day is celebrated on 9 September, the aim of which is to increase the popularity of electric cars and encourage the choice of greener transport through various initiatives around the world.

The organizers of the event expect that around a hundred electric cars will gather in total. Before the official registration of the record, representatives of the “Peugeot” and “Citroen” brands will speak at the event on topics related to electric cars. Representatives of the company “Ikrautas” will talk about the infrastructure of charging stations in Lithuania and future prospects.

Lithuania’s Guinness World Record of 507 electric cars in one place will be sought

New Guinness World Record: 507 Electric Cars In One Place

On Saturday 11 September, the closest day to Electric Car Day, the organizers invite all those who drive electric cars to gather at the “Litexpo” exhibition hall in Vilnius. The organizers encourage all those who want to participate to register online without delay and also remind that only those who drive fully electric cars can take part in setting the record, but everyone is invited to the event.

The Guinness Book of Records lists 507 electric cars

Such gatherings of electric cars are nothing new in the world: in 2014, the record for the largest number of electric cars gathered in one place was twice entered into the Guinness Book of Records. The last one was recorded in Cupertino, California. 507 electric cars gathered here, beating the previous record set in Stuttgart, Germany.

The organizers of the event to be held in Vilnius do not hide that they do not have much hope of breaking the Guinness World Record, but they want to set a solid record for Lithuania at the first convention of its kind.

“We want to increase the number of electric cars in Lithuania, promote eco-friendly transport, so events like “Charged Up’21” perfectly fulfill this goal of ours. For these reasons, we put a lot of effort into presenting information on this field in an interesting, clear and simple way. This is how the idea of celebrating World Electric Car Day in September this year and introducing Lithuanians not only to the latest electric cars, market trends, but also the compensation system in force in Lithuania or even electric motorcycles was born, which are becoming more and more popular and can be a very convenient means of transport in the city”, Paulius Gūžys, director of the company “Ikrautas”, said of the event.

It will be possible to test electric motorbikes

During the event, participants will be able to see both the latest electric cars and those driven by their compatriots, as well as learn about and test electric motorcycles: during the event, the already popular electric motorcycles of the manufacturer “Super SOCO” will be presented.

The latter allow the driver to travel more than 100 kilometers on a single charge, and the batteries can be recharged simply by bringing them home. Furthermore, these electric motorcycles have an interface with smartphones, so all technical or riding information and location can be viewed on the smartphone screen. Thanks to the affordable price, low maintenance costs and support provided by the state, which reaches up to 1,000 euros, this type of vehicle is becoming more and more popular and the choice between different models on the market is growing.

Not just a record

Although the highlight of the day will be the new Lithuanian record, spectators of the event will be able to watch the live broadcast from the point of car destruction: an old polluting vehicle will be brought there and destroyed. The organizers say that with this action they want to make people aware and draw attention to the compensation system in place in Lithuania.

“Those who destroyed their polluting car can purchase an electric scooter or an electric motorcycle instead, as well as a low-emission car. Compensation from the Climate Change Program for a low-emission car, an electric scooter or an electric motorcycle is a separate part of the support for the destroyed polluting car, according to which 4 million euros is allocated this year for the compensation payment to residents,” reads the APVA compensation report.

If you add a polluting car, you will receive compensation of 1000 euros for a less polluting car, an electric vehicle or another ecological vehicle: it can be a car, an electric scooter or a bicycle. You can also use this compensation to purchase annual public transport tickets, use it for car sharing services and similar.

Representatives of “Ikrautas” say that escorting a polluting car will also have a symbolic meaning, that we are moving towards a cleaner tomorrow in the transport sector.

The organizers invite all those who drive electric cars and want to participate in setting the record to register on the page below. Furthermore, the organizers emphasize that only fully electric cars will be entered for the record.
