Toyota bZ4X electric car has arrived in Lithuania

The new car’s quality and performance reflect the company’s extensive experience in electrified vehicle technology, an engineering heritage that spans more than a quarter of a century. Toyota expects that after the launch of this model, large-scale technological changes towards carbon neutrality will accelerate, and the market debutant will convey the needs and passing capabilities of the most popular SUV segment.

The pioneer of a new range of electric cars

The Toyota bZ4X is an all-new model, the first in a future range of diverse bZ cars, all built on the EV-only eTNGA platform. Its feature is a battery block integrated into the frame under the floor of the car.

The robust and very rigid chassis of the electric car and the low center of gravity guarantee stability and dynamism on the road. The modular design of the platform can be adapted to create different vehicles, from the smallest to the largest.

The aerodynamic elements used in the design of the debutant allowed engineers to increase the distance traveled on a single charge. Deep openings in the corners of the front bumper evenly distribute air flows, the blind bottom improves smoothness, and the rear diffuser and precisely composed rear window contribute to the excellent aerodynamic parameters. A deflector installed in the thin lower front grille distributes airflow that cools the battery, helping to reduce aerodynamic drag.

The car can be painted in one of six colors or five two-color combinations: the body of the selected shade is combined with a contrasting black roof and pillars. The living room atmosphere created in the passenger compartment is enhanced by the soft woven textures of the dashboard, the satin details and the panoramic sunroof.

The SUV’s trunk volume reaches 452 liters in the standard rear seat position, and there is enough space to transport two mountain bikes. The rear seats can be folded 60:40 or reclined.

Newer systems

The driver’s environment is designed according to the “hands on the wheel, eyes on the road” principle, where everything is adapted to the person driving the car. The seven-inch diagonal TFT digital instrument cluster sits above the steering wheel, at driver eye level, so readouts can be viewed with just a few eye movements.

An 8- or 12.3-inch touchscreen central display is also installed to control the latest and advanced Toyota Smart Connect system.

Infotainment system options include useful connected services. It can be accessed via the Toyota MyT app. The driver can analyze, for example, his driving habits, order service reminders and the battery charge level.

It is also possible to lock or unlock the car remotely and check its status: are the windows open, the sunroof, are the doors locked, are the lights on or is the key left in the passenger compartment?

The Toyota T-Mate system installed in the bZ4X model includes the latest generation Toyota Safety Sense system, which includes preventive safety functions. Both are designed for greater functionality and closer monitoring of the car’s environment and other road users.

Thanks to the Lane Trace Assist function, the Toyota bZ4X stays safely in its lane: it carefully monitors road signs and, if necessary, follows road markings or the vehicle in front. This system cooperates with the adaptive cruise control system, which can bring the car to a complete stop, so that its speed is safely regulated when cornering or when another car in front is braking.

The system also monitors the driver’s actions with the steering wheel, brake and accelerator pedals: if they are not used for a certain time, the emergency stop program is activated. The car’s cutting-edge Pre-Crash System (PCS) continuously monitors the road and warns the driver or initiates emergency braking if there is an imminent risk of impact.

The Safe Exit Assist system helps avoid the frequent risk of opening the car door when other vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians approach from behind. This feature uses blind spot monitoring equipment to detect movement behind the car and alert the driver or passengers if they intend to open the door at risk.

One charge – up to 500 km

The bZ4X will be offered with both front- and all-wheel drive. The front-wheel drive model is equipped with a 150 kW (204 hp) electric motor with a maximum torque of 265 Nm. In the all-wheel drive model, two 80 kW electric motors are installed on both axles, generating a total power of 218 hp and a maximum torque of 337 Nm. Thanks to the equipped all-wheel drive system, the X-MODE SUV stands out with the highest characteristics in its category when driving on snow or mud.

The 71.4 kWh lithium-ion battery installed in the electric vehicle consists of 96 cells. They are water-cooled and constantly monitored for any signs of abnormal activity or degradation. Toyota’s confidence in batteries is reflected in the warranty, which guarantees that the battery will retain at least 70% of its charge. its capacity up to 10 years.

This commitment is in addition to the traditional battery manufacturer’s warranty of 8 years or 160,000 hours. mileage warranty. After activating additional maintenance, the battery is covered by a 10-year warranty from the date of first registration or 1 million kilometers travelled.

In traditional WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) tests, the bZ4X can travel up to 500 (all-wheel drive) or up to 460 (front-wheel drive) kilometers on a single charge.

The battery of the electric car can be charged with a power of up to 150 kW with a direct current fast charger, which, at normal temperatures, will allow you to replenish energy reserves by up to 80% in less than half an hour. The car’s integrated 11kW charger allows you to fully charge the battery using a 230V/32A AC power source and a wall charger in less than 7 hours.

To give drivers peace of mind, Toyota maintains the software on an ongoing basis. Cars equipped with Toyota Safety Sense and Toyota Smart Connect systems can update this equipment remotely via a data transmission module. Furthermore, the price of the car will include 5 years or 75 thousand. mileage maintenance costs, complemented by a 10-year Toyota Relax warranty, roadside assistance offered and the aforementioned battery warranty.

The Toyota bZ4X electric car, included in the list of finalists of the “European Car of the Year 2023” elections, costs in Lithuania from 56,500 euros, and the first cars will be delivered in July 2023.
