With an inspiring design, the new Kia Sportage changes the image of SUVs

Kia has released the first official photos of the stunning next-generation Sportage model. The distinctive exterior and interior design of the new SUV has been carefully crafted to inspire customers to make bold decisions. In September Kia Europe will introduce a version of the Sportage specifically for the Old Continent market. This will be the first such modification in the entire 28-year history of the model.

The exterior of the car is a real challenge to the established design rules. The generational change of the Sportage occurred when the car acquired a new identity while simultaneously paying homage to the past. Refined body lines extending in different directions reinforce the impression of dramatic styling, while elegant yet strong-looking surfaces complement the sophisticated graphic design. All this creates a dynamic and safe position of the SVU model. The latest technologies have perfectly integrated into the car’s interior and have become part of a well-thought-out modern style.

“Our talented designers who designed the Sportage from scratch had an amazing opportunity to discover something new. They drew inspiration from the recent launch of the brand and its next-generation electric vehicle, the EV6. The innovative car will now inspire our customers. With the introduction of the new Sportage, we didn’t want to take just one step forward – we wanted to go to the next level in the SUV class, – said Karim Habib, senior vice president of Kia Motors and head of the company’s global design center. – When you see the new Sportage with your eyes, its elegant yet strong line, and when you sit inside and see the carefully crafted premium interior details, you will know for yourself that we have achieved everything we wanted. This model will set new standards.

With an inspiring design, the new Kia Sportage changes the image of SUVs

Earlier this year, Kia’s new design philosophy – “Opposites Harmonized” (eng. Opposites united) – has received extremely favorable ratings from industry experts. It was also adopted in the development of the new generation Sportage. Its influence is felt not only when looking at the appearance, but also when evaluating the character of the car. The principles of “harmonious opposites” will influence the design of all new Kia models, giving the cars a common identity. The bold and provocative concept will strengthen the connection between the design and Kia’s new brand philosophy of “Inspiring Movement”.

The harmonious contrast design methodology establishes five core design principles: “Source of Pleasure,” “Technological Life,” “Dynamic Drive,” “Tension Interpreting Seriousness,” and “Natural Beauty.” Among these, “Natural Beauty”—or simply “the beauty of nature”—has profoundly influenced the design of the all-new Sportage. This principle embodies the creativity of nature and endows the new car with a quality that is neither ostentatious nor emotional, its styling both modern and naturally flowing.

The exterior design of the all-new Sportage was created by a team of experts at Kia’s global design center, working simultaneously in South Korea, Germany, the United States, and China.

The benchmark for new SUV design

The provocative front end of the new Sportage leaves a strong impression. The design changes are vividly illustrated by the carefully detailed, full-width black radiator grille. An intricate mesh graphic design dominates the front of the new Sportage. This style makes the car impressive. The enlarged radiator grille combines the tiger muzzle shape characteristic of new Kia models, which draws attention to this place when looking at the car, and expressive daytime running lights in a futuristic style. The boomerang-shaped lights visually frame the impressive headlights. The sophistication of the front design is subtly offset by the simplicity of the surfaces.

The profile of the new Sportage stands out for the sportiness that characterizes the previous models. The shiny surface of the body is crossed by elongated and luminous lines, but the contrasting shapes are in perfect harmony with each other. For the first time in the history of the Sportage model it will be possible to choose a different color for the roof. New contrasts will highlight the sporty profile and highlight the dynamic rear door pillar. The chrome side line of the new Sportage flows harmoniously into the finish of the trunk pillar. The roofline ends with a rear spoiler which emphasizes the sportiness of the car.

The wide rear of the new Sportage appears solid and recalls the SUV’s solid character and stability on the road. The shape of the powerful-looking fastback style is reflected in the rear lights. Precisely integrated into the bodywork, the lights appear to be an integral part of it. Their unique stripe became the distinctive trunk door stripe. The thin strip connecting the sharply shaped rear lights also visually widens the body of the new Sportage.

The original appearance of the body is complemented by the sophisticated design of the rear bumper. The lower part is designed according to the same technical stylistic philosophy as the front bumper grille. This made it possible to combine all elements of the new Sportage design into a single whole. The car feels light and not overloaded with unnecessary details.

Technologically advanced interiors

The interior of the new Sportage is designed without shying away from bold solutions and combining advanced technologies controlled in an intuitive way. The equipment is arranged in such a way that it is convenient for the driver to use it.

The sleek-looking cabin of the new Sportage is most notable for its prominent display hood, narrow touch-sensitive stripes and exquisitely styled air vents. The massive wraparound windshield extends to the passenger seat. Thanks to this modern solution, the interior space of the Sportage seems wider and deeper. Stylish vents add elegance to the instrument panel.

The technologically advanced touch surface with a modern integrated controller is the central nervous system for all control, connectivity and comfort needs of the driver and passenger. Both of these systems are extremely easy to use and the control is intuitive by touching the pressed surface softly.

The ergonomic center console is designed in such a way that it is comfortable to use not only for the driver, but also for the passenger sitting in front. The console, which ensures comfort and convenience, is decorated with a very high quality glossy dark finish. The main system options can be changed using the center console panel. In addition to electronic transmission control, the raised platform is also equipped with soft-press buttons. Central cup holders and a small storage compartment allow for excellent use of space.

Highest quality materials, always pleasant to the touch, bright and iridescent colors and additional finishes are what make the interior of the new Sportage a comfort zone for passengers. For those seeking exclusivity, different finishes are available, including chrome elements and embossed patterns. The driver and front passenger seats have an elegant design and the latest technology offers exceptional comfort.

Innovative suspensions are integrated into the front seat backrests for the comfort of rear passengers. The cute headrests free up space, allowing passengers to easily hang clothes or hand bags.

The expertly designed interior of the new Sportage combines practicality, functionality and versatility.

For the first time in the entire history of the Sportage model, a special version with additional practicality will appear. Sportage X-Line models will feature unique bumpers, side skirts and roof racks. Customers will also be able to choose distinctive green or black seat upholstery, bright embroidery, wood or metal trim. Unique options will allow you to create a car with an even more rigorous style.

The new Sportage will debut in various global markets later this year. More information on the model will be available closer to the launches planned in the regions.
